What's new
- Restricted zones refuse an unqualified operator. A zone of type Restricted lists the qualifications needed to work in it. A pre-start on a machine inside that zone is refused when the operator doesn't hold every one of them at the time of the pre-start.
- Offline pre-starts are kept, not refused. The zone check runs when a pre-start reaches PreStartGo, and the app doesn't carry it offline. A pre-start done without signal has already unlocked the machine by the time it syncs, so refusing it then would only throw away the record of what happened. Instead it's kept, with a warning naming the zone, and flagged for review, so a supervisor can see it and act. See Reviewing Flagged Pre-Start Checks.
- Judged when it happened. An offline pre-start is judged against the qualifications the operator held when it was done, not when it synced.
The other zone types
| Zone type | Effect on a pre-start inside it |
|---|---|
| Exclusion | Goes ahead, with a recorded warning |
| Hazard | Goes ahead, with a recorded warning |
| Speed Limit | No effect |
Good to know
- The site's rules apply. Zones and their qualifications are judged on the site host's settings, so a visiting contractor's operator is held to the site's requirements. Grant the qualifications before the day they're needed.
- No location, no zone test. A pre-start that arrives without the phone's position, at a site with zones, goes ahead with one warning that the location wasn't available.
- Where it applies. Zones are drawn on Builder sites, and apply to machines inducted at that site.
See Site Check-In and Geofencing for how sites and zones work.
